Dear ,

NeXtGen Ver 2
After our dramatic progress leading to Version 1.1.22, we now have major build to Version 2 in the pipeline that will make a quantum leap in the overall look, feel and operation - all helped by all your feedbackt so far, along with our merry band of testers willing to dive in at the deep end! Release is aimed for the end of this month. We keep our full release information located here.

With nearly 60% uptake already, we remain confident we are ahead of the game by far.  As always, post your feedback on our dedicated commentboard here.

Reunion 2019 - Italy, nr Venice, Lido di Jesolo, May 2nd-May 6th
A bargain event at a quality location. The Sales Manager of travel partner has gone to great lengths to ensure this is  a success and her trip report on our behalf is now included on the reunion summary page. You will surely be tempted to make your plans!  - so do not delay.

Technical - Tuesday 13th November 0800GMT
We will be upgrading our SQL database server that has very occasionaly failed us in the past for no reason we've yet been able to analyse. This will involve a few hours interuption to the site as it is crucial to all the running aspects of the club - and we don't want to lose any of your data from the several million boards that have been played!

Alongside this we will be testing the first phase of our independent (ie: different ISP and geographical location) backup service, that will keep you connected and informed as we do this important transition. The next phase of this backup, will allow ongoing bridge play during such rare maintenance or outage periods.

From our CTD
Some of you may wonder what I do aside from being the TD for BCL. The answer is that I do even more TD-ing, both at my club and at National events in England. I have also been running English Bridge Union courses to train and assess potential Club Tournament Directors, and Iíll be running a series of four one day courses at Nottingham Bridge Club during the next two months.

Last month I ran the annual EBU weekend course to train and assess potential County TDs. I observed that it had been 18 years since I attended and passed this course after I had started TD-ing in what was to become BCL! While these courses all have their serious side, we also make sure that they are very enjoyable experiences for those attending.

From our Competitions Manager
The Memorial trophy will be on Sunday 18th November, and is a time to remember our departed friends as we play. There will also be an Indie Knockout starting 23rd November, running on well into next year.

The 2018 calendar now includes 3 months of 2019. Check it out here.

kind regards,

Nick Justice
